KEIKO PANTSU
稽古 パンツ

A unique collaboration: The design of a cutting-edge martial arts pants

During a summer outdoor Katori Shintō-Ryū training at Yukikan, Carlo Elias from Smel *creative agency felt the need for shorter budo pants. Elias decided to create his own pair and teamed up with fellow Katori Shintō-Ryū practitioner Thijs Koelink.

Manuela Eringaard and Thijs Koelink run the Utrecht-based STUDIO AYQIDO. With the right balance between tradition, durability and timeless design, the pants were tailored by Manuela into a blend of karate pants and a Nobakama (field hakama).

We named the pants Keiko Pantsu 稽古 パンツ which roughly means ‘training pants’.
Inspired by the samurai outfit with a premium cutting edge fashion look.

A collaboration by Smel, Yūkikan and STUDIO AYQIDO.
Made in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
